Founder of Artists Union ConceptArt
Teo Jorbenadze was born in Tbilisi, Georgia. She grew up in a creative family — her father, Tamaz Jorbenadze, was one of Georgia’s celebrated composers. She began her artistic journey through music, later finding her true voice in storytelling and performance art. She holds a Master’s Degree in Audio-Visual Arts (Film and TV) from the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film State University of Georgia.
Her professional career began in the mid-1990s as a cultural editor and author for The Week’s Post newspaper and the Second Channel of Georgian Public Broadcasting. She also led the Literature and PR departments at the Nodar Dumbadze State Central Children’s Theatre.
From 1998 to 2011, Teo collaborated with the German organization Melchiorsgrund, working on international theatre productions including The Caucasian Chalk Circle, Cabaret, Gute Zeit, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream across Germany, Poland, and Bosnia.
She went on to author more than forty television films for Georgian Public Broadcasting’s acclaimed project “Tell Me About You”.
Since 2004, Teo has served as Artistic Director of the Paata Burchuladze International Charity Foundation “Iavnana.” Under her creative direction, over a hundred television marathons and charity gala concerts have been written and produced both in Georgia and abroad — at prestigious venues such as the Grand Teatre del Liceu, Israeli Opera, Megaron Concert Hall in Athens, Salle Pleyel in Paris and atc. These events have featured world-renowned artists including Montserrat Caballé, Plácido Domingo, Ferruccio Furlanetto, Dolora Zajick, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Renato Bruson, among others.
A member of the Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra’s board since 2012, she founded the Artists Union ConceptArt in 2014. Its first production, Memory Card – World Cinema’s Soundtracks, achieved record popularity and remains a bestseller to this day.
Her documentary The Angels of Sorrow (2016–2018), dedicated to composer Giya Kancheli, was screened at the International Film Festival BIAFF, Tbilisi International Film Festival, and selected for the Amsterdam Lift-Off Film Festival.
In 2017, she received the Gold Wave Award for “Best Producer” from Media Holding Fortuna.
Teo later founded The New Generation Music Festival (2019) and created the project Music at Your Windows (2020–2021), which brought live performances to audiences during the pandemic. She also produced “Deep Forest”, “CA Goes To”, and the Giya Kancheli Tribute Festival in Batumi.
In 2023, she was a member of the jury for Forbes Under 30 in the Culture and Style category.
Her latest project, City Lights – Follow Your Dreams, written and directed by her, was created in collaboration with violinist Lisa Batiashvili and conductor-composer Nikoloz Rachveli. The world premiere took place in Berlin, at Potsdam Theatre, on May 14, 2023.
